SECOM (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd was officially launched by the Malaysian Inspector General of Police, Y.B. Tan Sri Haniff Omar on 16 October 1991. With the strong backing of The Lion Group (51%), Secom Co. Ltd, Japan (30%) and Koperasi Polis di Raja Malaysia (19%), SECOM is committed to provide high quality security service and hence peace of mind to the Malaysian society.
SECOM was pioneered by the Japanese founder, Makota Ida in 1962. Our principal activity is providing electronic security surveillance comprising SECOM Alarm System backed up by 24 hours Central Monitoring Services and 24 hours emergency response. Other products include the supply and installation of CCTV electronic access control systems and Security Guards Services is a recent service being introduced with the objective of meeting the high end market.
SECOM pioneered the on-line alarm response services in Japan during the 1960s. This was after the founder of Secom Japan discovered that many customers could not afford to hire security guards (due to high wages, scarcity of manpower and high turnover) but yet did not find it comfortable to have an alarm system without quick response. He created the "man+machine" concept where the alarm equipment and CMS station offers the detection devices but backed up by a highly effective and mobile response team that can be at the customer scene within minutes. This lowers the cost of protection to almost 10-20% compared to the cost of hiring guards and makes the service more affordable to a wider market. Today more than 2 million customers worldwide (11 countries) are using SECOM alarm with response services and we have assisted the society to live in a safer environment.
